Materials used for shutters

Engineer Board

Engineer board is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. It is better than particle board but not stronger than marine ply. Engineer board finds its most common use in kitchen cabinets. It is usually found on the doors and interior paneling because they are easier to paint, easier to clean, does not warp and many other reasons.

Marine Ply

Marine plywood is waterproof plywood used in areas where water contact is expected. Kitchens have a lot of water usage. This is the best and perfect material to be used for base cabinets as it can withstand high temperature and water. Thus, it does not decompose in moisture. It is made with three thin layers of wood held together by glue. It is expensive but maintenance-free and highly durable.

HDF - Hardboard, also called high-density fiberboard (HDF), is a type of fiberboard, which is an engineered wood product. It is similar to particle board and medium-density fiberboard, but is denser and much stronger and harder because it is made out of exploded wood fibers that have been highly compressed. It is cheaper than wood or wood triplay, offers you a large surface you can cut to produce big table tops. It is very easy to cut and make joints. It can be painted easily to obtain any appearance you like.

Blockboard - Blockboard is an engineered wood, which is used in making furniture as substitute of plywood. It is wood based board which consists of a core made of softwood wood strips between the two layers of wood veneer. In blockboards, the wooden strips are placed edge-to-edge and are enclosed between hardwood veneer sheets which are glued together under high pressure. The wooden strips in the core run lengthways in order to achieve the maximum strength. They are most preferred choice when lengthy pieces of wood are required for furniture, as they do not tend to bend or sag in the middle.

Gurjan Ply - Gurjan plywood is made from the wood of the Gurjan trees. The medium hardwood obtained from these trees is of a good quality and is engineered to produce the Gurjan plywood. Compared to teak wood Gurjan is slightly heavier and stiffer, and has excellent strength, durability and a beautiful reddish-brown colour. It is expensive since it is of a high quality.
